Tom Herman keeps pulling them in. Another top recruit has signed with the Texas Longhorns.
Five-star prospect Anthony Cook, a cornerback from Houston Lamar, made his selection official during an announcement broadcast on ESPNU.
Cook was a top target of LSU and Ohio State. Herman is finishing his first season at Texas.
“I really was thinking LSU — it came down to the wire,” Cook told Rivals.com. “LSU was in the lead after my official visit. Actually, I was thinking about silently committing with them after that, but I thought, ‘Nah, I better wait.’ After waiting, talking with different coaches, my friends and my parents, we talked and thought that Texas was just the best place for me.”
Cook intends to enroll at Texas in January. He’s the second 5-star recruit to sign with the Longhorns. Safety BJ Foster of Angleton has also signed with Texas.
247Sports.com has 20 players nationally ranked as five-star recruits, but these ratings are fluid. Both Foster and Cook were previously listed as 4-star recruits.
