Fort Worth Regional: NC State beats Stony Brook 3-0

Logan Ratledge broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homer, and North Carolina State held Stony Brook to six singles Friday in a 3-0 win in Game 1 of the NCAA Fort Worth regional at TCU’s Lupton Stadium.

The Wolfpack (35-21) will play the winner of TCU and Sacred Heart on Saturday at 7 p.m.

NC State starter Curt Britt (3-0) earned the win, throwing 5 1/3 innings, giving up four hits and striking out two. Left-hander Will Gilbert relieved Britt with runners on first and second in the sixth. Gilbert walked his first batter, Casey Baker, but got Andruw Grazzola to ground into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded.

Preston Palmeiro went 2 for 3 for NC State with a single, a double and a walk. Ratledge’s homer scored Jake Fincher, who singled to start the fifth inning.
