UTA baseball splits doubleheader with Louisiana-Monroe

UT Arlington won its Sun Belt Conference series with Louisiana-Monroe, splitting a Saturday doubleheader at Clay Gould Ballpark.

The Mavericks (14-18, 6-6 Sun Belt) won their fifth straight Sun Belt game with a 6-1 win to open the day, but lost 6-5 in 10 innings in the second game.

In Game 1, the Mavericks had starter Zach Thompson (2-3) go 5 1/3 innings while allowing one run on six hits and were led on offense by Eric Tate’s 3-for-4 day and Derek Miller’s two RBIs.

In Game 2, the Warhawks (13-20, 5-7) took advantage of five UTA errors. They tied it in the top of the eighth with two unearned runs, and Vincent Dellocono had the go-ahead RBI in the 10th.
