The No. 5 seed TCU men’s tennis team advanced to the NCAA tennis quarterfinals with a 4-0 win over No. 12 Wake Forest on Thursday at Baylor’s Hurd Tennis Center.
Taking the match’s initial doubles point in a tie-breaking set gave TCU a huge momentum swing, leading to three quick singles wins and the victory.
After both of the other doubles matches had ended, TCU’s third court pairing of freshman Guillermo Nunez and sophomore Hudson Blake fell behind 4-1 in the tie-breaking set, only to rally to win 8-7 (6) on an overhead slam by Blake.
TCU advances to the quarterfinal round Saturday to face the winner of Illinois and North Carolina.
