Tournament director Zoltan Papp announced Friday that former No. 1-ranked doubles player and four-time Grand Slam champion Mark Knowles and former Baylor star Benjamin Becker have accepted a doubles wild card into next week’s Irving Tennis Classic.

Knowles, a Southlake resident, won 55 career ATP doubles titles, including the Australian Open men’s doubles title in 2002, the U.S. Open doubles title in 2004 and the French Open doubles title in 2007 while playing with Daniel Nestor of Canada. Knowles also won the 2009 Wimbledon mixed doubles title with Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany.

Also receiving a wild card into the doubles draw are SMU twins Hunter and Yates Johnson. The ATP Challenger event begins Monday at the Four Seasons Resort and Club in Las Colinas.

Papp announced Thursday that former top-20 player Dmitry Tursunov of Russia had already accepted a wild card into the single draw. The seven-time ATP Tour champion is coming back from a foot injury.

Tickets for the tournament, which runs through March 20, are available at Irvingtennisclassic.com and at the front gate, located at the north end of the Four Seasons Resort complex.

Monday’s qualifying is free.

General admission tickets start at $20 on Tuesday and increase daily. Saturday’s semifinals are $60 and Sunday’s finals are $55. A tournament pass is $100. Upgrades are available.
