Victor Wembanyama Sends Strong Message About Spurs Teammate Stephon Castle

The San Antonio Spurs took down the New York Knicks with a 115-111 final score in Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals, led by stellar performances from Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle.

Wembanyama finished the game with 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks. Castle recorded 23 points, five rebounds and five assists as the Spurs notched their first victory over the championship series.

Castle, the 2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year, is just 21 years old. However, it’s clear that he’s not shying away from the moment on basketball’s biggest stage.

After the Spurs’ Game 3 win at Madison Square Garden, Wembanyama said Castle could be the “most mature” player on the team.

“He might be the most mature player on our team, and he’s nowhere near the oldest, and he’s been in big games before,” Wembanyama said, via Spurs team insider Tom Petrini. “He’s been in big games before the NBA. I’m not surprised by this, and he’s shown over and over again that he’s capable and that we are right to put our trust in him.”

Castle responded to this message from Wembanyama, throwing the praise back at his 7-foot-4 teammate.

“Vic’s probably number one [most mature]. I don’t go to sleep at 9pm, but I’m probably a close second,” Castle said.
