President Trump Not Expected To Attend Game 4 Of NBA Finals
Game 3 of the NBA Finals took place at Madison Square Garden and President Donald Trump was in attendance, becoming the first sitting President to attend. But it appears he won't be the first U.S. President to attend two Finals games back-to-back.
According to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, President Trump will not be attending Game 4 at MSG despite rumors that he might. Per the report, the President has "scheduling conflicts and obligations," and can't attend.
"President Donald Trump is not expected to attend Game 4 of Knicks-Spurs in the NBA Finals on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden due to scheduling conflicts and obligations, sources tell ESPN. Trump, a lifelong Knicks fan, watched the majority of Game 3 from a suite," Charania wrote on X.
Bad Juju?
Plenty of NBA fans were wary of President Trump attending Game 3 in the first place, foremost among them being ESPN's Stephen A. Smith. Fans believe that the President may have jinxed the immaculate vibes that the city and the team were enjoying and caused them to lose Game 3 to the San Antonio Spurs.
"He knew its bad juju for Mitchell Robinson, him sleeping," one user joked on X.
"Knicks title back in play," wrote another.
"We're so back. Go Knicks," a third wrote.
"'Scheduling conflicts' lol no he's just a fair weather fan who hates being around losing. Once he realized the Knicks weren't sweeping, he lost interest."
"Trump left the game with 7 minutes to go."
"Are we sure about the last sentence? Which White House staffer made Shams include that…"
Now that the President has decided not to attend Game 4 on Wednesday, there might be a little bit more calm among the fans.
The Knicks became just the third team in NBA history to take a 2-0 lead off road games in the NBA Finals, stretching their postseason winning streak to 13. But the Spurs snapped that streak on Monday with a 115-111.
Granted, there were plenty of complaints about the officiating, but at the end of the day, the Knicks just couldn't get the same lucky bounces that they got in Game 2.
