San Antonio Zoo says it's ready to collect on Kendrick Perkins' outrageous Finals bet

As the stakes rise higher amid the Spurs' race for a sixth NBA Championship, the San Antonio Zoo has made an increasingly outrageous wager with ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins - who says he promises to "shovel rhino poop" is the Alamo City team wins the title over the New York Knicks.

According to a Monday news release, the wager came about when San Antonio Zoo president and CEO Tim Morrow posed the challenge to Perkins after he predicted the Knicks would take home the title.

"Knicks winning this series! Just saying..." Perkins wrote in a June 2 post to X. Morrow was quick to fire back with his response: "Spurs win, you come shovel rhino poop. Spurs lose, you get a VIP tour of entire zoo." Perkins didn't hesitate to accept the challenge. "Can't wait to take my kids to the San Antonio Zoo," he replied.

During a Friday broadcast of NBA Today on ESPN, Perkins even raised the stakes. He stated that if the Spurs nip the title from the Knicks, he's pledged to do the following:

1. Shovel rhino poop at the San Antonio Zoo

2. Treat 10 San Antonio Zoo employees to a meal at any restaurant of their choosing

3. Sponsor 50 Spurs fans with VIP treatment to the Zoo

4. Wear a Spurs chain for a month

5. Eat a raw onion on NBA Today

6. Shave his head and beard

According to Morrow, the San Antonio Zoo will come out on top whether the Spurs take the title or not.

"We have the shovels ready, the rhinos are fed, and our staff is already trying to decide which five-star restaurant we're going to," Morrow said. "We can't wait to welcome Kendrick to the zoo. One way or another, San Antonio wins."
