Can't we have an honest conversation?
Can’t we have a total and honest dialogue on sensitive issues?
Now that import tariffs are being considered to even the playing field, it reminds me of '70s and '80s. Seems all on the left and right, the pundits, lobbyists, CEOs, and law makers then in the '70s and '80s were silent when many companies, millions of jobs and fundamental infrastructure were leaving the US to foreign counties. Again, today, not a peep from all these hypocrites. It's a very sad state; some of us want these jobs and companies back.

Reviving the 'bathroom bill'?
Republicans led by Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick are looking forward to continuing their assault on Texas bathrooms.
The Republican Primary Ballot Proposition 6 states: “Texas should protect the privacy and safety of women and children in spaces such as bathrooms, locker rooms and showers in all Texas schools and government buildings.”
This proposition makes it sound like bathrooms, locker rooms and showers in government-owned buildings provide safe havens for criminals to commit crimes against the safety and privacy of women and children and that men don’t need the same protection afforded to women and children.
Perhaps this proposition is a thinly veiled attempt to justify revival of the bathroom bill of 2017, which discriminated against transgender and gay citizens. That bill died in the state Legislature last year, and it should be buried.

Huge thanks to Dick's Sporting Goods for banning the sale of assault-style rifles and high-capacity magazines. Also, thanks for raising the age of purchase of any guns to people under 21. I hope this is the beginning of other companies taking responsibility in this serious issue.

I don’t watch award ceremonies any more. They have changed from pat-yourselves-on-the-back-fluff entertainment to crude language left wing political programs.

Thanks to Mac Engel for doing the “talking” for Gary Patterson. (Mac Engel column; Feb. 22) I was wondering when and how he would tackle the recent TCU issue. It was classic Engel, TCU and Fort Worth.

Good for them
Good for the students from Florida and around the country on their stand on gun control. Hopefully they will be heard. I though after Sandy Hook something would be done. How naive I was.

The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming, the Russians are coming . . .
Uh . . .
The Russians are here, the Russians are here, the Russians are here …

A nifty idea?
“America’s Harvest Box?” Food boxes of prepackaged staples? The Trump administration’s nifty idea to replace traditional programs such as food stamps?
Here’s an idea: A show of solidarity with those Americans who have been recipients of SNAP — the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Including the President, each member of the Trump administration, every member of Congress and all federal employees could receive their food in such a novel manner.
How long would they enjoy the program? America’s Harvest Box? Indeed!
