Arlington and Euless’ new county college trustee is the right choice at the right time.

If those cities had to come up with an educator and leader to succeed former Trustee Kristin Vandergriff, they could not have made a better choice than Arlington educator Diane Patrick.

The former state representative has served Arlington at every level. Before she became part of the leadership team for two Texas House speakers in Austin, she served as Arlington school board president and as a member of the State Board of Education.

Patrick has served on the House Higher Education committee and on joint committees. Her knowledge of Arlington and UT Arlington will help TCC Southeast grow and flourish hand-in-hand with UTA to meet Texas’ 60x30TX plan, which calls for 60 percent of young Texans to achieve college degrees by 2030.

Patrick will serve until the next election in May. After she serves nine months, Arlington and Euless might want her to stay longer.
