Be prepared, Arlingtonians. Two more road improvement projects are heading your way.
Two 18-month projects will start simultaneously next year as part of the 2008 bond program.
East Abram Street and the Great Southwest Parkway will both have sections completely rebuilt. One of the biggest hindrances during the construction will be closure of the bridge over Johnson Creek for eight months.
Both projects begin Jan. 4 and are scheduled to be completed in summer 2017. After the completion of those projects, at least one more will begin on Abram street, making it more pedestrian friendly.
After enduring months of Cooper Street construction, residents will start to feel the fatigue of all the road improvements, accompanied by all that machinery and noise.
But the projects were approved by voters. They are wanted, and very much needed.
