Do Texans work for some of the best employers in the country? Check this Forbes list
Texas is home to some of the best large and midsize employers in the country, according to a new report from Forbes.
The business magazine compiled its latest list based on responses from over 217,000 people who work at companies that employ over 1,000 people.
Participants were asked about a variety of topics, including work environment, salary, training programs and opportunities to advance. The responses were then counted, analyzed with other survey data and assigned a ranking.
Forbes listed 498 companies on the midsize list and 701 on the large list. Here’s which Texas employers made the cut.
Best large employers in Texas
Houston Methodist claimed the top spot on the list among Texas employers, and No. 3 overall.
The Houston-based organization first opened its doors in 1919 and has seven hospitals across the Houston area today. Over 32,000 employees work for the company, according to Forbes.

Best midsize employers in Texas
Vizient, Inc. is the top midsize employer in Texas, and No. 37 overall, according to Forbes.
The Irving-based employer is the largest member-owned healthcare service company in the country. Vizient employs 4,000 people, according to Forbes.
