Missing 2-year-old East Texas girl found safe in Amber Alert case, DPS says
A missing 2-year-old East Texas girl who authorities say was “violently” abducted by her father has been found safe, according to officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Her father was arrested, Center police said Wednesday.
Authorities had not released any other details.
An Amber Alert was issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday for Zamaya Whitaker, who was kidnapped about noon Tuesday in the 100 block of Arcadia Road in Center, authorities said. Center is about 220 miles southeast of Fort Worth.
Her father, identified as Zenas Whitaker, was accused of “violently” abducting Zamaya from her Center home, according to news reports. She was last seen in the area of County Road 1211, near Lake Pinkston in Shelby County, where her father abandoned their vehicle, according to KTRE-TV.
