Police have arrested the suspect in a drive-by shooting at a Denton elementary school Tuesday evening.

Trestin Clyde Durante, 21, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon, police said in a statement.

A 20-year-old man was shot about 6 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Evers Park elementary school. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said witnesses reported hearing three gunshots.

Witnesses told the Denton Record-Chronicle they were waiting for a youth baseball game to start at nearby Evers Park when the shooting happened. Families and children took cover in a concession stand, the newspaper reported.

Police said the shooting was not random and that Durante and the victim knew each other.

Durante faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
