Fires in Haltom City, Fort Worth displace families, destroy playground equipment
Two separate fires displaced families and burned playground equipment Tuesday, fire officials said.
A two-alarm fire Tuesday at a southeast Fort Worth apartment complex damaged three apartment units and displaced two adults and five children, said Kyle Clay, Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman.
The fire was in the 5900 block of Baymort Court and was called in at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday. The fire started in one apartment, which was damaged by fire and smoke. The other two apartments had smoke and water damage, he said.
The fire was put out and firefighters left the scene at 3:08 a.m.
In an earlier blaze, playground equipment yet to be constructed burned at about 9 p.m. Monday.
The equipment was still in packaging from delivery to the West Birdville Elementary School, so it was hard to tell what it was at first, said Fred Napp, Haltom City fire marshal.
The school is under construction, so it is unclear whether any security cameras have been installed, Napp said.
No injuries were reported in either fire, and arson investigations are ongoing.
