Hundreds of community members flooded the Fire Station Park to celebrate opening day of the Dickies Skate Plaza in Fort Worth’s Fairmount neighborhood.

People on skateboards, scooters, bicycles and roller skates weaved in and out of the packed crowd enjoying live music, food trucks and other activities scattered across the park.
Skateboarders, waiting for their turn to dive into the bowl, cheered when people landed a trick and grabbed an errant skateboard when others wiped out.

Totaling at $1.6 million dollars, the 15,000-square-foot park features several skating spaces, pedestrian paths, significant green space, a market-style area and a dog park. It was a meaningful moment for community members who have been anticipating the opening of the park since 2016.
“This is clearly a place that is meant for everyone,” said skater Connor White.
