Two suspects arrested yesterday in the fatal shooting of a man in southwest Fort Worth are facing capital murder charges, police said.
Roy Robert Edwards, 32, and Douglas Jerome Sims Jr., 24, were engaged in what police called a “drug-related robbery” when they shot the man, who has yet to be identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner, police said.
Police spokesman Buddy Calzada didn’t elaborate further, citing the ongoing homicide investigation.
He said that neither suspect was previously known to police and that he did not have their jail booking photos.
The shooting happened just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday near South Hulen Street and South Drive West in a lot behind the Men’s Warehouse off of Rock Quarry Road.
Workers at a nearby car wash saw the victim staggering down South Drive W and covered in blood. One of them tried to stop the bleeding from his neck with rags, while another called 911.
The victim was still breathing when first responders arrived, said the manager of the car wash.
The suspects ran into Hulen Mall nearby and tried to disguise themselves by changing their clothing, police said.
They were arrested by Fort Worth police in the second-floor food court, police said.
