3-year-old, his Fort Worth father wounded in accidental shooting

A toddler and his father suffered gunshot wounds early Sunday in what Fort Worth police say was an accidental shooting.

A man suffered a gunshot wound early Sunday when his handgun discharged as he was cleaning it, police said.

His 3-year-old son also was wounded when the bullet struck him.

Both remained at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police responded to a shooting call at two separate hospitals at about 2 a.m.

Officers determined the shooting occurred in the 5100 block of Mountain Springs Trail.

Police reported the man suffered a gunshot wound to his hand when the weapon discharged. The bullet that went through the man’s hand struck his 3-year-old son, according to police reports.
