Main St. festival brings street closings to downtown

The Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival doesn’t begin until Thursday, but getting ready for the downtown art extravaganza has already begun, so many streets are already closed or will close soon.

For those who work downtown, rush-hour access to and from the area is still manageable, but here’s a look at what streets are closed now — and will be closed at various times the rest of the week.

Event with the street closures, access to downtown hotels and banks will be maintained.

Here’s a look at some of the key street closures:

Monday through weekend

▪ Main Street from Second to Third streets; from Fifth to Ninth streeta; and from Ninth/Houston to Commerce Street.

Beginning Tuesday, through weekend

▪ Main Street from Weatherford to Second streets.

▪ First Street from Houston to Commerce.

▪ Third Street from Houston to Commerce.

▪ Fourth Street from Houston to Commerce and from Throckmorton to Houston — south curb and traffic lanes.

▪ Fifth Street from Houston to Throckmorton — north traffic and parking lanes.

▪ Sixth Street from Houston to Commerce — south traffic and curb lanes.

▪ Seventh Street from Throckmorton to Houston and from Houston to Commerce — north traffic and curb lanes.

▪ Ninth Street from Commerce to Calhoun.

Beginning Wednesday, through weekend

▪ Weatherford from Houston to Commerce.

▪ First from Commerce to Calhoun.

▪ Second from Houston to Commerce.

▪ Fifth from Houston to Commerce. Two center lanes will be open from 6 to 9 a.m. Wednesday-Friday. All lanes on Fifth will close for the weekend event at 9 a.m. Friday.

▪ Sixth from Houston to Commerce. Two north lanes will be open all day Wednesday and Thursday, closing at 6 p.m. Thursday. Lanes will reopen at 6 a.m. Friday and then close again at 6 p.m. for the weekend.

▪ Seventh from Houston to Commerce. Two south lanes will be open all day Wednesday and Thursday, closing at 6 p.m. Thursday. Lanes will reopen at 6 a.m. Friday and then close again at 6 p.m. for the weekend.

▪ Eighth from Houston to Commerce and from Commerce to Calhoun.

▪ Commerce — various traffic, curb and parking lanes.

From 6 p.m. Friday through the weekend.

▪ Main Street from Weatherford to Ninth.

▪ First through Eighth, from Commerce to Houston.

▪ Ninth, from Houston to Calhoun.

▪ Houston, from 12th Street.
