A brief police chase resulted in a six-vehicle crash that injured eight people on the north side of Fort Worth on Monday afternoon.

One person, a suspect in the chase, was critically injured in the crash, said Officer Jimmy Pollozani, police spokesman. Another person in the vehicle suffered serious injuries.

Three people in other cars suffered minor injuries, while three others were treated at the scene and released, said MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky.

The incident started about 3:30 p.m. on Northside Drive, where officers spotted a stolen vehicle, Pollozani said. When the officers tried to stop the vehicle, its driver wouldn’t pull over.

A chase ensued for about the next 10 minutes before the suspect wrecked in the 300 block of Northside, Pollozani said.

The suspect’s vehicle appeared to hit a curb, flip into the air and land in oncoming traffic, Pollozani said.

Police expect to press charges against the suspect, who remained hospitalized Monday evening.
