Irving police appeal for help catching thieves using child

Police asked for help Thursday catching a couple of beauty supply thieves who in some cases have brought along a child.

The thieves have hit area beauty supply stores such as Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta Beauty in the past few months in Mansfield, Arlington, Euless, Rockwall, Irving and other cities, police said.

They’ve stolen items such as bottles of Chi shampoo and a Chi flat iron.

Police released store surveillance videos of the suspects and child Thursday in hopes that someone would recognize them and contact detectives.

The suspects hit Sally Beauty Supply in the 2200 block of N. Story Road in Irving three times in July, according to police reports. A little girl was in the store during the thefts July 12, July 15 and July 22, reports say.

In a July 22 video, a female suspect is seen placing bottles down her yoga pants while a little girl stands near her in a Sally Beauty Supply store. At one point, the little girl hands the woman a bottle and the suspect stuffs it down the front of her pants.

In the July 15 video, male and female suspects are in the Sally Beauty Supply store posing as customers. The male suspect grabs a Chi flat iron from a shelf, hides behind the female suspect and places the flat iron down the front of his pants.

The male suspect then motions for a child to walk toward him. The video shows the little girl walking out of the store with the male suspect right behind her, appearing to use her as cover, as he rubs her shoulders.
