Search for missing Benbrook Lake swimmer resumes this morning

The search continues today for a missing teen who was swimming in Benbrook Lake.

Fort Worth Fire Department Lt. Kyle Falkner said crews will begin searching about 9 a.m.

Authorities suspended the search Wednesday night after searching for about an hour and a half.

The possible drowning was reported at about 6:30 p.m. in the lake on the southwest edge of Fort Worth, according to MedStar, Fort Worth’s ambulance provider. Fort Worth and Benbrook firefighters and police began to search, but the 16-year-old boy was not found before the sun went down.

Officer Jimmy Pollozani, a Fort Worth police spokesman, said the teen was swimming about 200 yards south of the boat ramp and was seen going under and did not resurface.

According to the Fort Worth Fire Department’s Twitter account, divers were searching in the lake for the missing swimmer as the sun set. At about 8 p.m., the search was suspended because of darkness.
