Keller High advancing to state in UIL marching band contest

Keller High School advances to the UIL State Marching Band contest next month after winning the Area A East 6A contest Saturday Night.

Shortly after the eighth and final school performed at the Chisholm Trails High School stadium, four finalists were announced: Central, Fossil Ridge, Keller and Timber Creek high schools, all in the Keller Independent School District. The only school to advance from the area is Keller High, which is going to its fifth straight state competition.

Five of the 20 bands competing in the Area B 4A marching band contest will advance to the state contest: Argyle, Canton, Melissa, Princeton and Wills Point high schools, according to Steve Musser, assistant executive secretary for UIL Region 5. Anna, Celina, Kaufman, Mabank and Sanger high schools were also selected as finalists.

The Area B 6A schools advancing to state in the marching band contest are Flower Mound, Haltom, Hebron and Marcus high schools, according to Jim McDaniel, executive secretary for UIL Region 24. L. D. Bell was selected as the alternate, and the other five finalists are Allen, Mansfield, Martin, Plano East and Trinity high schools.
