A man on Monday climbed onto the arm of a crane at a construction site in west Dallas, authorities said.

The crane is in the 1000 block of Singleton Boulevard, near Sylvan Avenue. Dallas police SWAT officers were working to get the man down.

The man stood on wires and, according to police, was possibly in distress, WFAA-TV reported.

The Dallas Fire-Rescue Department was called to the scene about 7:30 a.m. and was on standby there. The man remained on the crane on Monday afternoon.

A Dallas police spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for additional information.
