Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez says she hasn't resigned for run for governor
Reports that Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez has resigned to run for governor of Texas are false, the Democrat said late Wednesday.
Valdez said that she was exploring the possibility of a run to challenge Abbott earlier this month, according to WFAA.
Valdez took office in 2005 and won her fourth term last year with more than 58 percent of the vote, according to a nbcdfw.com story.
Using a tweet, Dallas attorney Pete Schulte announced his plans to run for Dallas County sheriff but then said he would not run unless Valdez resigned.
