Grand Prairie High School teen dies after being struck by train

An 18-year-old Grand Prairie High School student died after he was struck by a train while trying to cross the tracks Thursday afternoon, police said.

Kedarion Cooper was with a group of teenagers who were trying to cross the tracks in front of a train around 4:30 p.m. at the 2300 block of West Main Street.

When Cooper attempted to cross the tracks, he was struck by a Union Pacific freight train.

Cooper, who celebrated his 18th birthday last week, was taken by CareFlite to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where he later died.
