18-wheeler veers off Stemmons Freeway and overturns

An 18-wheeler veered off the highway and overturned in Dallas early Friday morning. The driver hadn't been located as of noon and the sheriff's office quit searching. The wreck occurred overnight on North Stemmons Freeway at Mañana Drive.

The driver of an 18-wheeler that veered off the highway and overturned in Dallas early Friday has yet to be located.

A passing motorist called the Dallas County sheriff’s office to report the truck overturned on the side of Stemmons Freeway near Mañana Drive about 5:15 a.m., sheriff’s office spokeswoman Melinda Urbina said.

She said it’s unknown how long it had been since the wreck, and deputies quit searching for the driver about 8 a.m. He still hadn’t been accounted for as of noon.

A hazmat crew was called to the scene and crews were summoned to clear the wreckage.
