A police officer late Tuesday fatally shot a robbery suspect who charged at officers with a baseball bat and screwdriver, police said early Wednesday.
The shooting occurred about midnight at The Gas Pipe Store, 6033 Camp Bowie Blvd.
Officers responded to a call from a clerk that a robbery was in progress. When the officers arrived, a second clerk left the store and told officers the man was inside. Uniformed officers confronted the man as he left the store, police said, but he charged them.
An officer fired a single shot, which hit the man in the chest. He was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
