One killed in car accident in Fort Worth

A 93-year-old woman was killed in a car crash Sunday afternoon when the elderly man driving the vehicle suffered a heart episode and drove into a ditch, Fort Worth police said.

About 1:45 p.m., the man was driving on Long Avenue near Pearl Avenue in Fort Worth when he lost control of the vehicle, Fort Worth police Sgt. Steven Enright said.

The woman, a passenger, died at the scene of the accident. She was identified as Maria Carmen of Fort Worth by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. The man, who suffered an injury to his leg, was taken in serious condition to John Peter Smith Hospital, a MedStar spokesman said.
