Fort Worth bomb threat suspect named

A man who is expected to be charged with possession of an explosive weapon after barricading himself in a rental home is 31-year-old Ryan Patrick Williams of Fort Worth, according to a Fort Worth police incident report.

Police took Williams into custody at 5444 Whitman Ave. after he barricaded himself in his rental house for several hours Saturday after a tip that he could have bombmaking materials in the house, police said.

The Fire Department’s arson/bomb unit obtained a warrant for his arrest, which was not available Monday.

He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for a mental health evaluation, said Lt. Kyle Falkner, a Fire Department spokesman.

Falkner said he could not say whether Williams was still at JPS on Monday night.

More charges could be filed against him, after investigators consult with the Tarrant County district attorney’s office, officials said.
