One man wounded in shooting Wednesday on East Berry Street, Fort Worth police say

Fort Worth police are investigating a shooting Wednesday at an apartment that left a person injured and led to the arrest of a suspect.

At around 6:10 p.m., police were dispatched to an apartment located in the 4800 block of East Berry Street in response to a shooting call.

Officers found the victim at the scene with a gunshot wound to each arm.

Police say the incident began as a verbal or physical altercation that quickly escalated, as both the victim and suspect fired their weapons.

Elisha Niyongabo, 22, was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

A 911 caller reported that the victim was a 19-year-old man. His condition is unknown.

Fort Worth gun violence detectives were notified and are investigating.
