An intoxicated woman drove a vehicle that crashed early Monday into a tree in south Fort Worth, killing a 10-month-old girl and injuring three other people, according to police records.

The infant, Zaveena Houston, died in a hospital emergency room about an hour after the 12:30 a.m. crash in the 7300 block of South Hulen Street, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A Fort Worth police spokesperson said he did not have a document that would answer questions about the circumstances of the crash.

Police did not on Monday describe the vehicle or its direction of travel prior to the crash, or release the nature of the relationship between the driver and the infant.

Police arrested and booked Janelle Leadley, 28, on suspicion of intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle and intoxicated assault with a vehicle in which there is a serious bodily injury.

Beyond the infant, three other occupants of the vehicle were taken to a hospital. The police spokesperson did not release their condition or say whether they are adults or children.

A person reporting the crash to authorities said smoke lifted from the vehicle after it crashed.
