Man dies after crash at Lewisville intersection. The other driver ran, police say.

A 55-year-old man died Wednesday night in a Denton County car crash in which the other driver ran from the scene, police said.

Subash Saha, who lived in Carrollton, was turning his Kia sedan at the intersection of the Interstate-35E frontage road and East Round Grove Road when his car collided about 9:30 p.m. with a Chevrolet Tahoe, authorities said.

An officer had a short time earlier tried to stop the sport utility vehicle for a traffic violation, the Lewisville Police Department said. The Tahoe driver did not stop, and the officer did not pursue him because the offense involved was not more serious than a traffic violation, police said. The department did not release the precise amount of time that passed between the attempted stop and the crash.

A second officer came upon the accident scene.

The Tahoe collided with the driver’s side of the Kia sedan as the car was trying to turn, police said. Officers performed CPR on Saha until they were relieved by paramedics. Saha was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead there.

The Tahoe’s driver ran from the scene. Police detained a second person in the SUV.

Police were searching for the hit-and-run suspect, a male who they said they have tentatively identified. Other Texas agencies had issued warrants for his arrest. Police declined to release his name or photo Thursday in order, the department said, to preserve the integrity of lineups that witnesses need to complete.
