A 33-year-old man has been arrested in the stabbing death of a woman outside a Grand Prairie convenience store this week.

Mark Silva was taken into custody Wednesday, police said, and he was being held at the Maverick County Jail near the U.S.-Mexico border in South Texas.

On Tuesday night, Nidia Gomez, 34, stumbled into the RNS Final Stop store, in the 3000 block of South Carrier Parkway, with apparent stab wounds on her upper torso and neck. Police said they believe she was stabbed in an altercation in Silva’s car in the parking lot.

Gomez was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

Silva faces a murder charge, and his bail was set at $500,000.

Police said detectives are investigating the case as family violence.
