In exciting fashion, the Weatherford Lady Kangaroos are returning to the soccer postseason.
The Lady Kangaroos wrapped up their return with a 2-0 home victory against Arlington Bowie Friday. Connor Mackenzie assisted on both goals as Kailey Riley and Eliana Harmer scored.
The Lady Kangaroos (10-11-2 overall) finished 7-6-1 in District 4-6A. As the fourth-place team they will play the District 3-6A champion in Abilene on March 25 against an opponent to be determined, said coach Tyler Kernan.
During the course of the season, the Lady Kangaroos overcame the loss of five starters during the season.

"The way my team rallied around themselves and played for each other makes me extremely proud," said Kernan. "These girls fight hard."
Earlier in the week, the Lady Kangaroos tied Arlington Lamar 1-1, losing on penalty kicks. Mackenzie scored off of an assist from Sylvia Watson.
Aledo 2, Granbury 0
The Ladycats secured second place in District 8-5A as Brooke Jones and Cameron Huddleston scored goals. Eden Wise and Krista Thrasher had assists.
Granbury 3, Aledo 1
The Bearcats (14-6-1, 10-3) fell to the district champion Pirates for a second time this season. Dejan Savic scored for Aledo, assisted by Tanner VanCuren.
Arlington Sam Houston 7, Weatherford 0
Arlington Bowie 4, Weatherford 1
The Kangaroos finished the season 6-14-1 overall and 1-13 in District 4-6A. Alex Medrano scored the final goal of the season on a free kick.
"We are very young this year, only losing three starters," said Weatherford coach David Barclay. "We made some big strides this year on all levels. We're looking forward to a new district next year."
