A year after having a streak of 13 straight postseasons ended, the Aledo Bearcats will be returning to the playoffs after visiting Crowley 2-1 last week. Dejan Savic scored both of the Bearcat goals.
"It's awesome. The boys works so hard in the off-season and so hard in the preseason," said Aledo coach Derek Vierling. "It's paying off."
The Bearcats (14-5-1, 10-2 in District 8-5A) will likely finish as the league runner-up behind Granbury.
Aledo ended last week with a 5-0 win at Burleson, their eighth shutout of the season. Tanner Vancuren had two goals, while Reed Vierling had a goal and assist, Joaquin Gonzalez had a goal, and Savic had a goal. Danny de le Carda, Max Owens and Mike Maloney had assists.

The Ladycats (14-3-3, 9-2-1 in District 8-5A) will likely enter the playoffs as the district's No. 2 seed after splitting their two games last week.
Krista Thrasher scored a pair of goals, with Eden Wise, Kaitlin Detherage and Haley Knesek each adding one. Detherage, Knesek and Brooke Jones each had an assist.
Cameron Huddleston scored against Burleson, with an assist from Jones.

The Lady Kangaroos (9-11-1, 6-6 in District 4-6A) moved to within one victory of a playoff berth by winning both of their games last week.
Eliana Harmer scored two goals against Sam Houston and Rachel Knesek scored one. Connor Mackenzie and Prairey Mendenhall each had assists.
