It was a big night for Weatherford College basketball Nov. 11, as the Lady Coyotes took down the No. 6 ranked team in the nation and the Coyotes gave a south Texas athletic powerhouse their first men’s loss of the year.
Blinn College was in town for the doubleheader at the Betty Jo Crumm Graber Athletic Center. Weatherford won the women’s game 88-67 and continued the sweep with an 83-77 men’s win.
Amber Keith led the Lady Coyotes with 25 points, including a 15-for-19 night at the free throw line. C.J. Johnson, Rayvon Christian and Zippy Khasoa each added 13 points. The Lady Coyotes are 3-1 overall. Blinn is 3-2 and ranked sixth in the NJCAA Division I women’s basketball poll.
For the men, Weatherford (4-2) was led by three players with 14 points each: Quentin Henderson, Fadil Yacoubou and Juozas Balciunas. The Buccaneers (3-1) came within three points in the final minutes but WC was able to make its free throws to seal the win.

The Lady Coyotes then traveled to Tyler for the Sleep Inn and Suites Classic Thursday-Saturday facing Arkansas Baptist, Jacksonville and No. 3 Tyler. The Coyotes played at home Monday against Greater Houston Prep.
