The Brock tennis duo of Tyler Davis and Hana Folse captured the Class 2A Mixed Doubles State Championship with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win over Brady Clark and Bobbi Chitsey of Wall at the State Tournament held at the courts of Texas A&M University on April 28-29.
The pair defeated Audrey Lunstedt and Landry Sheridan of White Oak 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Davis and Folse took on the defending state champs from Tulia. Madison Hoelting playing with her brother Jaxton Hoelting lost to Davis and Folse 6-2, 6-3 to set up the finals match with Wall.
In other action, the girls doubles team of Tobi Prater and Alex Rubio defeated Kara Jones and Dusti Martin of Olton in the quarterfinals 6-3, 6-3 before losing to the eventual state champions from Lago Vista 7-5, 6-1 to take the 3rd place medal.
Brandon Neff and Bailey Nichols lost their quarterfinal match in split sets to Blake Best and Madison Read of Kountze by a score 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-2.
In boys singles Clayton Boles drew defending state champion Reese Cook of Jim Ned in the first round losing in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
