The state track meet will be held on Saturday in Springtown.

Members of the WCS tennis team participated in the Trinity Christian Academy Invitational held on April 1 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center at TCU.

In the mixed doubles bracket, senior Matthew Adams and junior Savanna Thomas took third place. WCS beat Trinity in the first round, 8-4. Adams and Thomas played Westlake Academy in the semifinals, but lost 7-9.

WCS bounced back in the third place game against another team from Westlake Academy , winning, 8-4.

“We beat ourselves early on,” said Coach Gary Dickinson. “By the third match, they came out much better. There is still room for us to work on mechanics, but I like the way they’re playing together.”

WCS will compete for district on Monday at TCU. Those who place in the top two of their category will advance to state on Tuesday, also at TCU.
