ALEDO NETTERS COMPETE IN TOUGH TOURNEY

The Aledo Racquet Cats, a 5A program, faced a host of 6A teams in the Grapevine Tennis Tournament recently. They faced Plano West, Plano East, Keller, Southlake Carroll and Flower Mound, along with 5A teams Colleyville Heritage, Grapevine and Northwest, and private schools Dallas Jesuit and Liberty Christian.

In girls A doubles, Priscilla Schimming and Erin Davis placed fourth, as did Jared Kelm and Miles Grubbs in boys A doubles. In boys A singles, Alec Meendsen, likewise, finished fourth.

WHS LIFTERS STRONG AT DECATUR

The Weatherford High School powerlifting team posted four gold medal performances and six runner-up finishes at the recent Decatur Invitational.

Taking first in their respective divisions for Kangaroos were: Korey Grant, 114-pound division; Kylen Hart, 148; Ethan Herron, 198; and Cody Henderson, 242.

Runners-up were Saul Sanchez, 165; River Hall, 181; Tanner Knox, 198; Zeke Baker, 220; Chandler Jackson, 242; and Cayde Taylor, 275.

Cooper Coffee took third in the 220 division, while Ethan Orsak and Carlos Amaro were each fourth in the 123 and 181 classes, respectively.
