The team of Steven Shurtz, Matt James, Parker Scaling, Andrew Lane, and Sam Shryoc finished in third place, and came from behind to pass three teams during the final round. They competed in the State Tournament at Wolfdancer in Bastrop Monday and Tuesday.
This is the first time since 2008 that the girls and boys golf teams have qualified for the State Tournament in the same year. In 2014, the girls team qualified and there was a boy who medaled. In both 2013 and 2012, the girls team qualified and in 2011, it was the boys. In 2010, neither team qualified and in 2009, the boys team qualified.
