The Weatherford College baseball team swept a Saturday doubleheader against North Central Texas College at Roger Williams Ballpark.
Earlier in the week, WC split a doubleheader with NCTC in Gainesville April 22, losing game one 11-5 and winning game two 7-3. NCTC scored at least two runs in each of the first four innings of game one and tagged WC starter Andrew Hendel with five earned runs over two and a third innings. WC reliever Austin Butler performed well in the final two and a third innings, allowing no hits and no walks while striking out four. Coyote second baseman Quinton Rohrbaugh was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
In game two, Chase Sarchet hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning that put the Coyotes up for good. Sarchet was 3-for-3 for the game with three RBIs. Tyler Wesley earned the win and struck out nine, scattering seven hits over six innings, allowing three earned runs and three walks. Joseph Heineman took the ball in the seventh inning and held NCTC to just two hits and no runs while striking out seven.
The Coyotes (38-10 overall, 20-8 in conference) are the No. 6 team in the nation, according to the NJCAA Division I poll.
