Parker County area basketball teams chasing titles

The Brock Lady Eagles moved closer to the District 7-3A championship Friday night with a 63-20 home victory against Breckenridge. Also, the Peaster Greyhounds stayed atop the boys' side of the district, downing Eastland 69-27.

Meanwhile, the Aledo Ladycats and Brock Eagles remained in the hunt for their respective district championships with wins.

The Ladycats won 34-21 at Haslet Eaton. The Eagles won 80-37 over Breckenridge at home.

GIRLS

▪ Aledo 34, Haslet Eaton 21

Aledo leading scorers: Taylor Morgan 9, Elizabeth Allanach 8.

Notable: Aledo has clinched a playoff berth and trails Saginaw Boswell, to whom their only league loss came, by a game in the district standings with three remaining. The teams finish the regular season against each other in Aledo on Feb. 6. Aledo has won 23 of its past 24 games.

Aledo record: 26-3, 10-1 in District 6-5A.

▪ Brock 63, Breckenridge 20

Brock leading scorer: Olivia Lewis 17.

Notable: Brock has clinched a playoff berth and is closing in on a district championship. The Lady Eagles have won 14 straight.

Brock record: 24-6, 9-0 in District 7-3A.

▪ Peaster 48, Eastland 39

Peaster leading scorers: Kelli Burkhalter 10, Danielle Young 10, Tori Cast 9, Taryn Cast 9.

Notable: The Lady Greyhounds have clinched a playoff berth, but will need some help to catch Brock in the chase for the league title.

Peaster record: 17-4, 7-2 in District 7-3A.

Weatherford leading scorer: Anna Jefferson-Polk 8.

Notable: Despite the loss, the Lady Kangaroos are in good shape for a playoff berth. They are off Tuesday, but can clinch a postseason spot with a win in Abilene next Friday.

Weatherford record: 18-13, 6-4 in District 3-6A.

Poolville leading scorers: Lexi Heiser 13 Brooklyn Hensley 10, Ryan Jennings 8.

Notable: Alvord went on a 15-4 run in the third quarter.

Poolville record: 15-14, 2-5 in District 11-2A.

▪ Huckabay 79, Millsap 45 (nondistrict)

Millsap leading scorer: Brittany Schnabel 25.

Millsap record: 9-22, 3-6 in District 7-3A.

BOYS

▪ Brock 80, Breckenridge 37

Brock leading scorers: Amery Hughes 30, Wyatt Moore 13.

Notable: Brock trails Peaster by a game in the standings, with their only league loss coming at the Greyhounds. The teams meet again in Brock on Feb. 2.

Brock record: 26-3, 6-1 in District 7-3A.
