Despite rain, ice and snow recently, Weatherford's varsity baseball home opener was held March 3.
Unfortunately for the Roos, it ended in an 8-2 loss to Justin-Northwest at Raymond Curtis Field but WHS Head Coach Terry Massey said he was glad the rain held off long enough to get the game in.
Spencer Hynes led the Roos in hitting with a pair of doubles in the game. First baseman Blake LaGrassa also hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Weatherford's varsity team spent the weekend participating in the H-E-B Classic Tournament, where senior Beau Burrows picked up his first win of the season in the opening game over Irving Nimitz, a 10-1 victory. Burrows had a complete game with six strikeouts, no walks and no earned runs.
