The Weatherford College basketball teams swept Southwestern Christian College on the final night of the regular season Feb. 25, sending both teams to the postseason on winning streaks.
The Lady Coyotes won 80-52, led by Rayvon Christian’s 18 points. WC (14-11 overall, 8-6 in conference) finished the conference season tied with Hill for third place. WC enters the women’s postseason for the fifth straight year having won their last two games and three out of their last five.
The Coyotes also finished tied for third in the NTJCAC after an 82-69 win over SWCC. Kendale Truitt scored 26 points in the victory. The WC men (19-11, 7-5) qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2012, finishing with five straight victories and winning six out of their last seven.
The Region 5 Tournament begins today and runs through Saturday at the Brownwood Coliseum. The WC men will play its first game Thursday at 5 p.m. against Howard and the women take on NMJC at noon Wednesday.
