Eagles season comes to heartbreaking end

The Willow Park Trinity Christian Eagles magical first season of 11-man football came to an end Saturday. Colleyville Covenant Christian rallied for a 35-27 victory in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools, Division III semifinals, at Burleson's Elk Stadium.

Trinity finished 10-3, also playing in TAPPS for the first time. Covenant (12-1) advanced to the state final against Houston Northland Christian (13-0) next Saturday at noon at Waco Midway High School.

The Eagles led 27-7 at the half. They finished the season outscoring their opponents 501-248.
