Horseshoe champ to be crowned Saturday

Who throws the best horseshoe in Weatherford? We'll find out Saturday when the first Weatherford Horseshoe Championship will be held.

The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Noon Lions Ringer Alley in Love Street Park. The alley has 12 pits available to the public for practice, league nights, tournaments and qualifies to host the State Doubles Horseshoe Championship. It is also a sanctioned set of pits through the Texas Horseshoe Pitchers Association.

NTHSRA AREA LEADERS

Kaelee Brown of Aledo continues to be atop the pole bending standings in the North Texas High School Rodeo Association with 209 points. Maggie Pytlik of Weatherford is third in that event with 148.

Also from Aledo, Kaitlynn Kasterke is second in the Rookie Cowgirl standings with 154 points. Rylee Wells of Peaster is fifth with 110.

Luke Williams of Brock has 155 points for third in team roping-heading and is fourth in the Rookie Cowboy standings.

Brown is fourth in ride-up goat tying and Lukas Loren of Weatherford is fifth in chute dogging.

WC FOUNDATION GOLF TOURNAMENT

The 16th Annual Weatherford College Foundation Golf Tournament will be held Thursday, Oct. 20 at Canyon West Golf Club. Registration and lunch is at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Entry fee is $85 per person or $325 for a four-person team. This includes lunch, green fees, cart, a gift, and a hamburger dinner cooked by the WC campus police.

Players can also purchase a mulligan package with two mulligans and two raffle tickets for items such as sporting goods, electronics, restaurant certificates, and more.

BROCK HOOPS GOLF TOURNAMENT

The 2016 Brock Hoops Golf Scramble is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 30 at Canyon West Golf Course. The four-person, best-ball scramble will feature a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Check-in and registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Entry fee is $400 per team and includes range ball, cart fee, lunch and a goodie bag. Mulligans are available for three for $5, with a maximum of 12 per team.

Hole sponsorships are also available for $250. There will also be contests for closes to the pin, longest drive, a 50/50 hole, and a putting contest.

Funds raised will be used toward locker room renovations, basketball equipment and equipment storage for the Brock boys and girls basketball programs for grades 7-12.
