The dust has settled. The walls are painted. The floors are in. The cars are cleaned and shining brightly under the new lighting. Everything is in its place and ready for the grand opening of Weatherford’s newest attraction, the Vintage Car Museum and Event Center. The grand opening is scheduled for Aug. 4, with a ribbon cutting by the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce at 10:30 a.m. that morning.
After months of preparation and re-modeling, the old Hobson Building at 100 Fort Worth Highway, just east of the county courthouse square, is opening to showcase vintage automobiles from the almost every era. Owner Tom Moncrief is delighted the museum is ready.
“We’ve waited for this day for some time,” Moncrief said. “And now the museum is ready to open. We have some wonderful cars on display from throughout history with great stories to tell.”
Museum curator Terry Mann said, the wide variety of cars on display offers an insider’s look into the history of the automobile industry and an opportunity to view cars no longer being manufactured.
