"This is a project we have been moving towards for many months," Riley said. "We are proud to have taken another step forward in improving our transparency by making our meetings available for viewing by our residents from their computer, tablet or other mobile device."
Riley and Commissioners Court have worked for the past year getting the technological upgrades done to the Commissioner’s Courtroom to be able to stream the court’s meetings. The upgrades include a new audio/visual system as well as a new media management software system that provides the streaming technology.

He said the courts focus has been on improving transparency of county government, which also includes the county’s new website that contains a page dedicated to providing the county’s financial data.
"Streaming Commissioners Court meetings is just an extension of the work this court has been doing to improve our transparency so that our residents can be involved and informed in their county government," Riley said.
Regular meetings of the Commissioners Court are held on the second and fourth Monday of every month. Special meetings can be called as well with proper notice. All agendas for meetings are posted and available to the public at least 72 hours prior to the meeting, as required by state law.
With the new audio visual system, residents will be able to view presentations and documents that members of the court are looking at by clicking on the agenda item’s attached document, when available.
"We are pleased with the increased accessibility this technology gives our residents," Riley said. "Our county’s population is not large enough for us to be included in the state law mandating meetings be broadcast to the public, however we felt it was the right thing to do. We want our residents to be informed and aware of what their county government is doing."
The next scheduled regular meeting of the Parker County Commissioners Court is set for 9 a.m., March 28.
