A Springtown woman was killed in a two-vehicle wreck Wednesday night after she tried to pass a vehicle in front of her, spun out on the wet road and crashed into an oncoming vehicle, the Department of Public Safety reported.
The woman, identified as Angela Ruiz, 28, was driving a 1997 Toyota on Farm Road 51 near Veal Station Road when she tried to a pass another vehicle, DPS Trooper Ricky Hunter said.
Ruiz lost control on the wet road, spun to the right and “impacted” the front of a southbound 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser driven by a Weatherford woman, Hunter wrote in an email.
Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The other driver, Tabitha Post, 31, was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth with undisclosed injuries. A 3-year-old passenger with Post was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth with undisclosed injuries, Hunter wrote.
The accident happened shortly after 6 p.m.
